A Woman Giving Birth to Flowers

A Woman Giving Birth to Flowers centers on the ontological kinship between womanhood and nature, revealing their shared creative, nurturing, life-giving, and hopeful essence. The project articulates a resilience, delicate yet unyielding, that retains the capacity for creation even amid profound destruction. On the photographic surface, the indexical trace of the past, what Roland Barthes called “that-has-been” (ça-a-été), is transposed through thermal deformation into a process of “that which is coming into being.” Fire’s direct contact with analog film leaves burn marks and melting points that dissolve rigid boundaries, creating a permeable space between the female body, nature, and matter. Here, “giving birth” transcends its biological meaning, becoming a philosophical metaphor for a vibrant, organic, irresistible existence reconstructed from the residue of destroyed matter.
